British Postal Stationery Card used by Forces in Burma

The Lady Provost's Comforts Fund for H.M. Forces was a charitable organization in the United Kingdom that operated during World War I and World War II.  The purpose of the fund was to provide comforts and necessities to British servicemen and women serving in the Armed Forces during times of war. 

The Lady Provost's Comforts Fund for H.M. Forces sent goody parcels from home to soldiers fighting in the war.  A returned thank you card, shown below, signed and send home.

The card was cancelled with FPO No 82, dated 22 Jan 44. The location of this FPO on that date was in Tidim, chin state, Burma.  The FPO 82 was in Tidim from 14 Nov 1943 to 4 Mar 1944.  This FPO moved in and out of Burma and India over the time.  It was disbanded at Kamptee India on 23 Jun 1947. 

Thakin Kodaw Hmaing's Correspondence

The cover displayed below immediately caught my attention. It was addressed to the renowned and esteemed figure, "Thakin Kodaw Hmaing," whose office was located at Doh Bamar Ashi Ayone, No 64, Shwe Taung Kyar, Rangoon. The sender of this registered letter was Ma Ma Gyi, residing at Aye Nyeing Thar Yar Chaung, Mingun Taungyoe, Sagaing District. The letter was dispatched on September 2, 1944.

The cover was adorned with twelve 5c stamps, totaling 60c, which covered both the registration fee of 30c and the postage cost of 30c. It is believed that the letter weighed approximately 30g.

Thakin Kodaw Hmaing

Thakin Kodaw Hmaing is widely recognized as one of the greatest Burmese poets, writers, and political leaders of the 20th century in Burma. His contributions extend beyond his literary genius, as he is often referred to as the Father of Burmese nationalist and peace movements. Even today, his profound influence on subsequent generations can be observed in both the realm of literature and the ongoing political landscape in Myanmar.

Japanese Occupation social cover, sent from Myaung, Sagaing on 11 Aug 1944 to Kalaw. Small 5c (Scott 2N33a) Farmer Plowing stamp is used. Myaung PO marked Postage Due 10c. It is the invitation cover for Ordination and Ear-boring Ceremony.
