Myanmar Post issued a commemorative stamp in 2017 to mark the 69th Anniversary of Independence Day. The design, by Zaw Maw Oo, depicts an aerial view of Kuthodaw Pagoda in Mandalay shrouded in mist. The 100-kyat stamp was printed in 300,000 copies by offset at Wazi Security Printing Works, Myanmar. It is perforated 14, in four colours, with a sheet format of 50 stamps, and measures 42 × 30 mm.

On 4 January 2026, Myanmar Post issued a set of two commemorative stamps marking the 78th anniversary of Independence Day. Myanmar Post did not issue any official first day covers; instead, collectors produced their own private FDCs. First day cancellation postmarks were available at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyitaw.

On 4th Jan 2020, Myanmar Post issued a set of three stamps for 72nd anniversary of Independence Day. This year, the stamp designs are based on the photo greeting cards produced by the Ministry of Information. The original greeting cards are distributed among the Government. All the stamps featured the national races of Myanmar and Independence Monument.

Design 1 (left) used same design of one stamp issued during 2016. The independence monument seen in design 1 and 2 (left and middle) is the monument from the Mahabandoola park near the Sule pagoda. The monument in the design 3 (right) is also known as the Pinlon Union munument, which is located at Pinlon.
Two simple commemorative postmarks were used on the first day of issue. One in Burmese and the other in English. My personal view to this is unnecessary to have two different cancellation. It will be better to include both languages in one chop (I know there was a proposal of such).
I witnessed the stamp sale on the first day at Yangon GPO. All the empty FDC at Yangon GPO are sold out within first few hours. One official empty FDC are sold at 200 Kyats to public. MPS is selling its FDC at 200 Kyats to its members, and 300 Kyats to the public for fund raising purpose. Joining MPS can save 100 Kyats for every FDC purchased.
Myanmar Post issued a set of three stamps for 71st anniversary of Independence
Day. As usual, three award winning entries from photo competition organized by the Ministry of Information are used as basic stamp designs. Three designs includes Htamane making festival of the month Tabodwe, Myanmar traditional high-jump game and the nuns at the heritage monastery.

Myanma Posts and Telecommunications released the new stamps set to
commemorate 68th anniversary of independence day of Myanmar on 4th
January 2016. The stamps set contains two 100K stamps and one 200K stamp. The design elements includes night scene of Yangon downtown with Sule pagoda, sunset scene of Yangon with Shwedagon pagoda, and the view of signing ceremony of national ceasefire agreement (signed on 2015 October 15 in Naypyitaw) with the president's portrait displayed on the projector.

Myanmar Post issued three types of official First Day Covers with different cachet, three types of postcards, each design duplicates the design of the stamps.
Myanma Posts and Telecommunications released the new stamps set to commemorate 67th anniversary of independence day of Myanmar on 4th January 2015. The set contails one 200 kyats value and two 100 kyats values. 200k stamp features the birds eye view of Shwe Dagon Pagoda. 100k designs depicts scenery view of Bagan (an ancient city) and U Bein Bridge (1.2 km long wooden bridge). State news media announced about the new issues on 29th December 2014.

The stamps are printed by Security Printing Works (Myanmar) by 4 color offset printing method. The perforation is 14, and composition is 50 stamps per sheet. Total of 200,000 pieces for 200k design and 100,000 pieces each for 100k designs were produced. First day cancellations are available at Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay POs.
